"My sister-in-law served this at a family function and it's been a hit ever since. No Cheese Whiz, just real cheddar cheese. Delicious, and kid-friendly. My now-grown son would request this when he came home from college. This recipe is very adaptable as well - add crushed Ritz crackers or panko crumbs on top during the last 5 minutes of cooking for a crunchy topping. Add bacon bits to the mixture for some extra flavor, or add a couple teaspoons of hot sauce for some heat. I also have used brown rice successfully with this recipe, and frozen broccoli cuts instead of chopped."

"DH really loved this, almost as much as his favorite, Pepsi Pork Roast(recipe#:13269). I used extra sharp cheddar and about a cup of Velveeta (cubed). For the rice, I used 2 boxes (approx 5 cups cooked)of Uncle Bens Wild Rice, with the seasoning packets, which added a lot of extra flavor. Served with Awesome Baked Pork Chops (recipe#:34499) which was also really delicious."
"Going to give this a 5 because it was a great base, after reading reviews I did add the following: 2 oz of cheese (bringing the total to 10 oz) (we also used White Extra sharp cheddar cheese), 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. I did use cream of mushroom. Baked it for exactly what it said. Yum!"
"This is really 4.5 stars. I add a dash of cayenne pepper and use really sharp cheese. Don't over cook the rice. It makes a big, big difference."
"Good standard comfort food! I used recipe #360192 instead of cream of soup with good results. Thanks for sharing the recipe!"
"I like how this was very easy to make but for some reason was a bit dry for my tastes. Maybe I should have added milk or water with the 2 soups? The taste was very good though..."
"Yum! I used fresh broccoli and added about a cup of bite sized cooked chicken breast. Thanks for the recipe- its a keeper!"
"I topped the casserole with parmesan cheese and then dotted the cheese with little bits of butter."
"Loved it...used 1.5 cans cream of chicken (and next time I will try it with just 1 can). Thank you!"
"This was really good. Added a chicken breast and it was a filling whole meal. Everyone in the family ate it...which is almost unheard of in my house! Thanks for the great recipe jaynine..."
"Thank you for posting such a great recipe, so WONDERFUL TO HAVE A RECIPE WITH NO CHEESE WHIZ :)"
"flavor is good. But I might prefer a recipe that doesn't require cooking the rice first. seems like it should be plausible that a casserole could do that while baking. If nothing else, I'd advise adding more broccoli & being sure not to over-cook your rice."
"Love this recipe. Also added leftover rotisserie chicken and a little extra cheese. There were no leftovers."
"Terrific flavor! I used mushrooms and real cream instead of the soup that was called for. I also did not follow the recipe to the letter--just threw in the basic ingredients unmeasured. It was awesome!"
"I made this as a side for Mother's Day dinner. Everyone loved it. My father in law even asked me to make it for Father's Day. I left out the onion (my DH hates it) and didn't let the rice get too soft when I cooked it before adding to the recipe. Definitely a keeper."
"I cook my rice in chicken broth for more flavor. For each cup of rice, I add 1 TBSP of Bacon Jam while it is cooking. This recipe is perfect as is but I like more flavor without taking too much away from this wonderful dish. Thanks for sharing!!"
"Very delicious :) I added 1 lb of ground beef and then sprinkled some cheese on top half way through."
"Very yummy! I left out the onion due to personal preference and divided the recipe for a meal later, following the freezer directions. I only cooked for about 20 minutes in the toaster oven, and precooked the broccoli so it was tender-crisp. I ate this as a main dish."
"Very good! I added some milk to thin the mixture down a little, (cooked) cubed chicken, and seasoning salt. Everyone, including my skeptical toddler, liked it! I baked it for 30 min in a 13x9 pan and it was bubbling away & starting to get golden on top."
"I made this to go with our ham for Easter dinner and it was a hit. I used Uncle Ben's wild rice and added a couple of drops of chipotle hot sauce. Definitely a recipe I'll use again."
