"I've always loved tacos but I think the assembling part can be a pain, especially if I'm making mine and the kids' because they were too small to make their own. Once I had taco salad this way, I never made tacos again! (Salsa pictured in my photo is Zesty Salsa for Canning) I have found that squeezing some lime juice over the prepared salad makes it even better! YUM!!"

"Yum! This WAS easier than tacos, and I enjoyed it more. I served with baked Doritoes, which I definitely recommend. I also mixed the salsa and [light] sour cream to make a southwestern salad dressing. This will become a summer staple for us!"
"Great taco salad. I used lean ground turkey instead of ground beef, but otherwise followed the recipe."
"This taco salad is delicious and easy. It is perfect on warm nights. Made as written except put into regular bowls and omitted black olives as my family doesn't like them. It was so healthy and fresh. The tortilla chips give it a crunch and a salty balance to the sweet tomatoes. I mixed the salsa and the sour cream to make a southwestern salsa like a previous reviewer. So good. Everyone ate it up. We love taco salad. Definitely adjust the toppings to what you like but go for it. Thanks Marg for posting! Enjoy! ChefDLH"
"made this salad tonite, but instead of chips, i served in a tortilla bowl...very yummy...also made mexican eggrolls ..recipe by startnover... with it...a keeper!"
"Perfect spring salad! I used everything except the tortilla chips. I loved the olives, super yummy. It's a keeper in our house! Thanks for sharing! :)"
"Tasted just like a taco! Served it with salsa, hot sauce, gaucamole and sour cream. I tried the black olives, but not my cup of tea. Loved the idea of using crunched tortilla chips."
"Great recipe! I used it for a gathering at my house, and everyone loved it! Thanks for posting."
"I made a vegetarian version with kidney beans and broiled tortilla strips instead of the chips. It was very well received, thanks for the recipe!"
"I made half a recipe and it was just right for the two of us. Great little salad. Quick and easy to do. Served it with Recipe #8739."
"Delicious! Organic Romaine lettuce fresh from the garden, organic beef and organic raw cheese made this extra tasty and extra healthy! I also added fresh chopped tomatoes, black olives, sour cream and Black Bean & Corn Salsa, which gave it the perfect kick. Served over Garden of Eatin' organic corn chips. And completed the meal with fresh, homemade Mango Sorbet...perfect ending to a perfect meal!"
"This is the same recipe that my mom made for my family, and it is the same recipe that I use now. The only thing that we do differently is omit sour cream and olives, and add French dressing and white rice. Delicious!"
"This is exactly how we make taco salads at our house. Sometimes we sub sliced green onions for regular onions and sometimes we add some picante sauce. MMMmmm good."
"When I was a kid my Aunt used to make this for us. She called it Texas Tacos. A family favorite!!!"
"great salad- used ground turkey instead of beef"
"Very yummy!! I used ground turkey because its cheaper and lower in fat I browned it in microwave for 7 minutes we used chips lettuce and cheese. I put sour cream and salsa on mine biut my daughter and husband used a little bit of ranch dressing on theirs. Vey good!! Thank you for sharing"
"FANTASTIC!!! i used the "stand & stuff" shells. so easy to fill/use/eat as the bottom of these shells are flat. genius idea! i also added cilantro. love this recipe :-)"
"I made everything and put them in separate baggies/bowls and took it out to the park with a friend I haven't seen in a while and my daughter. They both LOVED it, and had seconds...and then my husband had a heaping bowl of the leftovers for lunch the next day. This recipe is a keeper!! Things I did differently: -added tofu to the ground beef -left out the olives & sour cream -cooked the beef in a skillet Next time I will: -Add avocado. Thanks for posting, we all loved it!"
"This was one of the best taco salads I have ever had! We added guacamole to ours and I also used multigrain tortilla chips. Definately just like a taco but simpler. And as opposed to taco salads you get in the tortilla "bowl" it was much easier to eat!"
"We really enjoyed this. And so much easier to make than tacos!"
