"I just made this and goodness me, it's absolutely delicious! Moist and soft, the only negative I have about it is that the taste of date isn't too prominent so next time (oh and there's definitely gonna be a next time), I shall add more dates. Thank you so much :)"
"A lovely moist cake. Not all that chocolatey, but the dates give it a rich flavor. My kids helped me make it... and gobble it up!"
"THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU! My Mom used to make this, and never wrote down the recipe. She pasted away without writing down a lot of her recipes. I have been looking all over the internet for this cake. It is FANTASTIC! She usually served it with real whipped cream on top."
"A lovely, rich cake."
"One of my favorite childhood cakes! I've always known it as Westhaven Cake. Don't know where that name came from (probably from my mom so she could hide the fact that dates are in it!!!). The only difference from my recipe is I use a cup of butter instead of oil. Plus I always put the baking soda with the dates and pour hot water on top of both. (I just use hot water straight out of the tap - no boiling). I never added sugar to the topping until recently. Good both ways..."
"A great cake, easy to make, bit difficult to cut. Recipe does not state eggs as an ingredient and then says add eggs (how many)? I added 2 and this seemed to be okay."
"One of the best cakes I have ever tasted"
