Ingredients

    1. 473.18 ml dried lentils
    2. 2 (822.13 g) can chicken broth
    3. 473.18 ml water
    4. 236.59 ml chopped onion
    5. 236.59 ml chopped celery
    6. 236.59 ml sliced carrot
    7. 1 large green bell pepper, chopped
    8. 3 clove garlic, minced
    9. 4.92 ml dried thyme
    10. 4.92 ml dried parsley
    11. 4.92 ml rubbed sage
    12. 2.46 ml pepper
    13. 1 (411.06 g) can diced tomatoes, undrained
    14. 1 (226.79 g) can tomato sauce
    15. 1 (170.09 g) can tomato paste

Directions

  1. Add the first 12 ingredients to a large soup pot.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Cover, lower heat, and simmer for 30 minutes or until lentils are tender.
  4. Add in tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste; stir to mix.
  5. Cook over medium heat until thoroughly heated.
  6. Season to taste with salt, pepper, or hot sauce.
