1. I got the recipe from my husband's Grandmother and have made it for years. It's the best stew and so easy. I also like to add celery and if you don't have tomato soup you can use tomato sauce and about 1/2 can of water and you can use cornstarch in the place of tapioca.

 2. Comfort food! This is the only beef stew recipe ever I make now. Its cooking right now, and smells amazing in here, even though it has 2 hours to go.

 3. Delicious!! This was ridiculously easy to put together and smelled incredible the whole day. My DSs were bugging me for hours about when dinner was happening. Absolute perfect comfort food. Thanks so much for the recipe!

 5. I have made this today with a temp of 48* outside....and it is true...after 2 hours....I even had neighbors come over and ask what I was fixing.....I always have baking powdered biscuits with this meal..... The only change I do....is my kids like chopped tomatoes and a TON of different spices.....I love this recipe and it will stay in my recipe box for generations to come!!

Absolutely love to cook! My Mom passed the apron on to me when I was about 13 years old, taught me all she knew, then I was introduced to the world of cookbooks. Forty years later, here I am . . over 1,300 cookbooks collected, and an avid Recipezaar fan of eight years.

My favorite part of this site, other than the obvious recipes, are the recipe reviews. Thanks for expanding my dining repetoire, Recipezaar!!
