Oriental Sweet and Sour Sauce

Ingredients

    1. 2 tablespoons butter, melted
    2. 1 cup chicken broth
    3. 1 cup green pepper, diced
    4. 6 slices pineapple, diced and canned

    Paste

    1. 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    2. 1/2 cup chicken broth
    3. 2 tablespoons soy sauce

    Finishing Sauce

    1. 1/2 cup vinegar
    2. 3/4 cup pineapple juice
    3. 1/2 cup sugar
    4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
    5. 1/4 teaspoon ginger

Directions

  1. Mix together paste ingredients and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a heavy pan.
  3. Add chicken broth, diced green pepper, and pineapple.
  4. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the cornstarch paste and the finishing sauce ingredients.
  5. Simmer, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
