Beef in Red Wine Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

    1. 2 1/4 lbs sirloin, sliced into thin strips
    2. 3 tablespoons butter
    3. 3 tablespoons safflower oil
    4. 4 ounces sliced mushrooms
    5. 3 tablespoons finely diced carrots
    6. 3 tablespoons finely diced celery
    7. 1/4 cup flour
    8. 1/2 cup red wine
    9. 2 cups beef broth
    10. 3 tablespoons tomato paste
    11. 1 teaspoon black pepper
    12. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    13. 1 teaspoon onion powder

Directions

  1. In a large Dutch oven or kettle, sauté the beef in the butter and oil. Add the vegetables and continue to cook until tender.
  2. Sprinkle with flour, reduce the heat and cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the wine, broth, tomato paste and seasonings. Simmer for 50 minutes covered.
  4. Serve over noodles.
