  • Combine Pickling Spice, Vinegar, Sugar, Salt, and Turmeric in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer about 10 minutes.
  • Strain out the Pickling Spice if desired. (I don't, but be careful when eating the pickles. Nobody wants to bite down on a peppercorn -- ).
  • Pour over the sliced veggies, and mix well.
  • Chill in the refrigerator.

I am a college student on a budget, and I love to cook! My specialties all have to do with pasta, but that is a huge category... If I had to single out one dish, I would say angelhair pasta with green and black olives, hot Italian sausage, and tomatoes with a basil and garlic sauce. YUM!
