Fried meatballs! I'd never heard of them until I saw this recipe! Recipe is from "Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Cooking 3."

I have made these numerous times for get togethers and everyone LOVES them!! I get asked for the recipe every time! I do half ground sausage and half ground beef to give them a little different flavor! EXCELLENT!!

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 eggs, divided
  • 14 cup milk
  • 34 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, divided
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (or other frying oil)
  • Red Pepper Sauce

  • 1 (7 1/4 ounce) jar roasted red peppers, drained
  • 12 cup Catalina dressing
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Lightly spray heavy duty baking sheet with cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, combine beef, 3 eggs, milk, Parmesan cheese, 3/4 cup bread crumbs and Italian seasoning. Mix thoroughly and shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. In a small bowl, lightly beat 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water to make egg wash; in another small bowl, add remaining bread crumbs.
  5. Dip meatballs in egg mixture, then roll in bread crumbs and place them on prepared baking sheet.
  6. Heat oil in a heavy-bottom saucepan over high heat. Using a sloted spoon, carefully add meatballs to oil. Fry until golden brown, working in batches.
  7. Remove meatballs from oil and arrange in a single layer on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  8. For red pepper sauce, combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth.
