I've stumbled upon these by mixing up a couple of other recipes together. They taste so good, you almost forget they're good for you too.
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1⁄2 cup ground flax seed meal
- 1⁄2 cup wheat germ
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup raisins
- 1⁄2 cup maple syrup
- 1⁄2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- Combine the dry ingredients.
- Bring syrup, brown sugar and butter to boil.
- Add wet ingredients to dry; mix well.
- Firmly pack down into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Let cool before turning out and cutting.
so good! Best granola bar recipe I've tried in awhile!
What a great find! I don't care for raisins, so I substituted dried strawberries. Delicious! I never thought my kids would like such a healthy snack! For them, I omitted the dried fruit and sprinkled 6 oz. chocolate chips on top of the bars before they went into the oven. At the end of baking time, I used a silicone brush to spread the chocolate evenly over the surface of the bars and then cooled them completely. They came out beautifully and my kids can't get enough of them. Thank you for the great recipe!!
This is a great recipe. It tastes great and is very healthy!! I didn't have raisins on hand, but needed to use up the rest of a bag of chocolate chips and although the chips all melted and the granola bars ended up looking like brownies they still tasted great!! Thanks for the recipe.
