A very good chowder. Float a pat of butter on each serving. Good with buttery crackers.

  1. Cook first 5 ingredients with the juice from the clams.
  2. Cook gently until potatoes are tender.
  3. Add clams.
  4. Mix milk and flour.
  5. Stir into soup.
  6. Cook and stir until thickened.
  7. Add butter.

Very good, basic clam chowder. I thought the texture was just right, but it could hae used more flavor. I would add some herbs and/or spices next time (like thyme or parprika for example). Overall, this was enjoyable and easy to make. Thanx!

I sauteed the onions first, then did the rest. Added the clams at the last and 2/3 the amount of milk for a slightly thicker soup. My canned clams had some grit to them, not lovin' that. But, the flavor was good. Enjoyable but I'm not sure I would make it again because of the grit, not the recipes fault I suppose.

This was a really great chowder. Not too clammy & not to milky. I did add cooked & crumbled bacon as that's the way mom made fresh clam chowder growing up, but other than that made as directed. I served it with Recipe #211925. Thank you for posting, MizzNezz!
