Recipe by Tasses

Passed down for several generations--our family has used this recipe for everything from cloverleaf rolls to fried bread. It also works as a loaf. If frying the dough, flour hands and pat into pancake size disks. Drop into 1/2" heated oil. Turn when browned. Slice open and serve with butter.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package yeast
  • 12 cup warm milk
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 14 cup warm butter
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 1 warm egg
  • 2 12 cups flour

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water (according to package directions).
  2. Mix all remaining ingredients except flour in a large bowl.
  3. Add yeast.
  4. Gradually add flour.
  5. Grease another large bowl.
  6. Place dough in greased bowl and let rise.
  7. Bake 425°F for 12 - 15 minutes.
