  1. Brown bacon, garlic and hamburger in dutch oven or large skillet, drain fat if needed.
  2. Add celery, onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, beans, and noodles.
  3. Add seasonings, stir.
  4. Bake 45 minutes in Dutch oven (moderate heat), or 1 hour in 350f conventional oven.
  5. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Excellent! Very similar to goulash, with the exception of the bacon and beans. We followed the recipe exactly, The only change I'd make next time (and there will definitely be a ext time) is that I would start cooking the bacon AHEAD of the hamburger. Cooking them together mean that the bacon wasn't quite as DONE as some of the fussier family members would like, lol. It smelled wonderful as it was being cooked, and several people stopped by the fire to ask what was cooking. Also ommitted the canned mushrooms.

This was a nice easy meal to put together, instaed of celery, I added grated carrot. I did find that there wasn't enough liquid n of so ended up adding a can of tomato soup for extra moisture and a few tablespoons of tomato paste just to boost the tomato flavour, very nice though and I'm using the leftovers to make a pie.

This is great!!!I have to adapt the preparation slightly since hubby can't have bacon or hamburger, hust a "dab" turkey bacon once in a while.My solution, take out the cooked bacon and turkey burger, drain some of grease, add a little burger back in,add the vegies and noodles. I cook by both methods on this recipe. If it is nice outside I use a dutch oven, or cold I use the regular oven. I serve a helping or so to hubby, then stir in the bacon and rest of hamburger for the balance of the family. I do use the seasoning salts, pepper and of course a little cayenne. Some times I add chopped green pepper to the mix also. Thanks for posting.
