I got a recipe for a Buttermilk Bread, from a friend. It has been a favorite, for years. I adapted it for a whole grain recipe and it works!! Great bread!!
- 1 cup buttermilk, plus
- 2 tablespoons buttermilk, room temp
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1 1⁄2 cups white flour
- 1 1⁄2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1⁄4 cup raw wheat germ
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- Put ingredients in bread machine in order lised by manufacturer. Follow manufacturer's instructions to bake.
This bread has a wonderful flavour and texture. It is really good toasted. Thank you for sharing this good recipe that will be made again. Made this for Spring PAC 2009.
