White Sauce - Dairy free

A white sauce for people lactose intolerant.

Directions

  1. Melt margarine in a saucepan.
  2. Add flour, and blend well.
  3. Slowly pour in 1 ½ cups bouillon, stir constantly, and add salt and pepper.
  4. When the mixture just boils, blend 2 tbs of hot sauce with egg yolk and add this mixture to sauce.
  5. Stir constantly.
  6. Add more bouillon if necessary to thin to desired consistency.

I make this all the time as a sub. for those cream of ... soups. I omit the egg however. You can also saute mushrooms to make a cream of mushroom version.
