Good for cold winter weather. I haven't tried this myself
- 8 ounces white chocolate, chopped
- 3 1⁄2 cups milk
- 6 hard peppermint candies, crushed fine
- 1⁄2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 2⁄3 cup whipping cream
- Beat chilled cream with crushed mints until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate for about an hour. Meanwhile, heat milk to a simmer, them mix in chocolate. Whisk until chocolate is melted and smooth. Add mint extract and stir through. Pour into mugs and top with minty whipped cream.
This was super yummy! Great sweet drink on a Christmas morning! I didn't make the homemade whip cream. Just used canned real whip cream with crushed candy canes on top.
Oh, Yum. This is delectably creamy and so full of peppermint taste that I could not resist a second....and yes, a third, mug of this oh so good hot chocolate drink. I will make this often. Thanks for sharing your recipe, morgan. Made for Spring 2009 Pick-A-Chef.
I have four kiddos who exclaimed "This is the BEST hot chocolate ever"! It is indeed very tasty but it is one you will want to make when you are craving something very sweet. It is like sipping Peppermint Bark...one of my favorite goodies on the Christmas goodies tray :o) Thanks so much for sharing your recipe it is a definite keeper. Made and reviewed for My-3-Chefs 08
