  1. grease and flour 8 by 8 inch pan. double the recipe for 9 by 13 inch pan.
  2. combine dry ingredients in bowl.
  3. add liquid ingredients gradually, beating until smooth (starting on low and increasing to high). beat about 5 minutes.
  4. bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
  5. toothpick test.
  6. enjoy!

This is the exact recipe my mom always used when i was growing up. And is still my favorite chocolate cake ever! I just made it in the form of a full sheet cake for my Daughter's Birthday! Everyone raved! I did not know it had a name though, until a friend of mine said this is what it was called when she was growing up! so thanks for posting!
