  1. This is close to my recipe. The teaspoon of salt per pound of powdered sugar is the magic bullet. It makes the frosting not sickening sweet. I use 1/2 tsp. Wilton butter flavoring and 1 tsp. vanilla. I use water instead of milk so it can sit out at a wedding. If milk is in it, you only have a 4 hour window for food safety. You lose a lot of that time just making it so I use water. I will only use Crisco. I've tried other brands and Crisco is way better tasting in my opinion.

  2. My husband is nutso for frosting, but mine has always been lacking, till now. I love this. SOOO easy to put together and spreads and holds perfectly. Thank you so very much this is the yummyest I ever made or had for that matter!

  3. This is a good frosting recipe. If you beat it for a couple of minutes it becomes light and fluffy. My only complaint is that this recipe is too salty for my taste (and I LOVE salt). I would cut down the salt by at least 1/2 a tsp.

  4. This is absolutely FANTASTIC frosting!! I was a bit skeptical because it only calls for Crisco and no butter- but it is wonderful! Fluffy White Wedding Cake Frosting- Thank you for posting this- I won't use any other recipe again!!! :-)

  5. i liked it alright, it had sort of a cinnamon taste to me which i didn't like, might have been my vanilla, but my friend loved it, it was the only thing that tasted good on the cake i baked using a white cake recipe from this site, which was horrid, but everyone that tasted the cake said, "i really like the icing"

I'm a RETIRED high school administrator. I love to cook and my husband is a patient taste tester for me (poor baby)! Very lucky he is not a picky eater! We have an awesome son and daughter-in-law but unfortunately they live in Los Angeles so not much physical visiting. Lots of phone calls though! ? I love collecting cookbooks (drives my husband crazy), logo golf balls, and salt & pepper shakers (thanks to getting started with the old recipezaar swaps!). Recipezaar/Food.com has been a fantastic site for me. I have learned a ton at this site and really enjoy all of the forums (I think I'm getting addicted to the Swaps!!) My next big challenge is to learn how to put photographs on of the dishes I am making. Suggestions are definitely invited!!
