Warm Woolly Sheep

"DH and I are sampling Drambuie and Glenlivet recipes tonight. I loved this Warm Woolly Sheep recipe! I've seen recipes for this drink on several different sites, but none specify how much milk, so I suppose you could add to your liking. For me, 1/2 cup of fat-free milk was perfect. For the scotch, we used Glenlivet. Very warming (and potent)!"

directions

  • Combine the whisky and Drambuie in a heat-safe mug. Top off with warm milk, and stir lightly. (DH warmed my milk in the microwave 45 seconds to 1 minute, and this was a good temperature for me. He then poured the milk over the liquor).

  1. I fell in Love with the name of this drink! It's one of those names that a person just doesn't forget. Made it tonight and figured I needed it after shoveling loads of snow. Love the concept and it is enjoyable. It's a little too strong in the liquor for my taste and next time I'll use less of the alcohol. Made if for Photo tag. Thank you Dr. Jenny for sharing.

  2. Made for ZWT6 amid a flurry of cooking last nite when I felt I deserved a reward. I admit I am a wimp for strong drinks & often take precautions. I used a lrg coffee mug & prob closer to 6 1/2 oz milk than 4. It was still very soothing & settled me w/o creating *brain fuzz* . Thx for posting this recipe, esp since I followed it w/another of your recipes as a further reward. :-) *Edited to Add* Love the recipe name here & so appropriate for me to try it as I am sure you agree. :-)

  3. This was a nice, warm, comforting drink before bed. I used about 1 1/2 cups milk, and the whiskey flavor was still plenty strong. Made for ZWT6.

  4. Warming and soothing nightcap. I love Glenlivet and Drambuie, so this was an easy choice. Thanks so much for posting. I have to go to bed now.

I work full-time as a School Psychologist in Michigan. Besides the kids, one of the best aspects of the job is summer vacation, when I can concentrate on doing more of the things that I like to do---like look up recipes and play games on Recipezaar!!! I married my wonderful and handsome husband, Sean, in August 2007. He is becoming a wonderful gardender and tends to both our veggie and herb gardens. We really enjoy cooking with our own fresh ingredients. We most often cook together, so my reviews typically reflect our joint opinions. He's the better cook, so I pick up a lot of my techniques from him. My other interests include reading (now that I have time), Irish dancing (I've taken a class for the last several years), "appreciating" wine (I use the term very loosely), and listening to and going to see Irish bands (I love the Pogues). I also enjoy travelling, especially around Western Europe, where I have been multiple times. One of my favorite places is Italy, and Sean and I had a great time on our honeymoon eating, drinking, and sightseeing in the Cinque Terre and in Tuscany. This July 2009, we expanded our horizons to Eastern Europe and visited the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Croatia. Two of my favorite dishes on the trip were Croatian: fish brodet and Hvarska gregada. I am looking forward to trying my hand at making them at home as I see that someone on Zaar, who is Croatian, posted recipes for both! Besides my husband, the other lights of my life are my cats: Chloe, Pip, and my newest ragdoll cat, Giselle, all of whom I absolutely adore. I've participated in the following events: I most recently had the privelege of being on the ZWT5 Team, the Sultans of Spice, with a great group of people.
