Pour this warm sauce over smoked sausages, baked potatoes or hot dogs....an excellent entry from my collection !!!
- 1 1⁄2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1⁄4 teaspoon celery seed
- 1⁄2 cup Dijon mustard
- Heat the oil in a saucepan.
- Add the onion and pepper.
- Cook until just soft (do not brown).
- Add the garlic, celery seed and Dijon.
- Heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Remove from the heat and allow the sauce to sit for 15 minutes.
WOnderful! I made Charlotte J's Brats & Sauerkraut tonight, plus SaraFish's Cauliflower Cheddar Fritters. We used this sauce on both - they were wonderful. We sat there thinking of all of the things it would taste so good on. I will make this frequently. Thanks - dinner was a big hit tonight.
I poured this over mixed vegetables, which I enjoyed. I gave the recipe to a friend who said that it made a good sauce for dipping shrimp, though I haven't tried that myself. Seems like a versatile recipe, and an easy one too.
I used this on a nice lunch of potato and sauerkraut and really liked the fact that it was just a little different from plain old mustard. Great condiment for anyone watching their diet! My sauce came out pretty thick and the main flavor, of course, is the mustard. Next time (I WILL be making this again!) I may use more garlic and I wonder if the onion flavor would be more prominent if they were browned a bit? Thanks for posting this one, Mini!
