This recipe is often requested by friends and family members. My mom gave them as gifts to all the neighbors. After they moved away, the new owners of my childhood home called to find out the recipe. It seems the neighbors told her that she must carry on the tradition of the pies!
- 1⁄2 cup butter, melted
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Karo syrup
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 3 cups pecan halves
- 2 (9 inch) pie crusts
- Preheat oven to 325°.
- Beat eggs.
- Add sugar, corn syrup, butter & vanilla and beat on medium speed with mixer.
- Fold in pecans until all are coated with goo.
- Pour into pie shells.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
- Wanda does not recommend deep dish pie shells for this recipe.
I made this pie again this year for Thanksgiving and no one could get enough of it! It was the talk of the table! My sister kept talking about how good it was, my mom said it had just enough sweetness to it and my dad said I could no longer step foot in his house without bringing him a pie. I think they liked it. This recipe is so simple, yet very delicious. Ive already been volunteered to bring the pies for Christmas. Oh well, got to give the people what they want!!!
I have one ready to go in the oven now. It was easy and can't wait to try it.
This is the recipe I used last year and will be doing it again this year because it was such a hit! It was the first time my husband tried pecan pie and he fell in love with it. He ate two pies himself! He has tried many others since then, but he says nothing compares with the recipe. I agree. Thanks QUEEN OF EVERYTHING!!!!
