Dough cooked up very tender; the potato filling had an excellent flavor & best anyone had ever had. Recipe doubled nicely; made by hand without crimper/mini-form and wasn't too difficult at all & well worth it. Never will buy store bought again! Thanks Uncle Bill!
Yummy! They were soooo good.I think the second time ever making perogies, they wer slightly time consuming, but worked beautifully.I was so proud of myself! I didn't have any whipping cream, so I used half and half, the dough was very nice to handle and roll. I used my one cup measure to cut them and ennded up with about 48 or so. Pass the sour cream!
The trick is in the dough. I did something wrong and my dough was too rubbery to roll out and would just shrink back to a smaller shape, so when the perogies cooked the dough was too thick. I'm sad because I was really looking forward to these. Where is your Grandma when you need her? I need a hands on class!
These were very good. I have never had or made perogies before this recipe, and I was very surprised at how good they are. I have always heard mixed messeges about them with some people loving them and some people absolutely hatng them. I am happy to say that I am one of those people who love them now. :) I added a little bit of garlic powder to the filling just to give it a little more flavor, but other then that I left it alone. This is really a very good recipe. Thank you for posting!!
This was a great recipe! I used to by Mrs's T's frozen Perogies, not anymore, this is so good. A little bit of work but well worth it! I will never use frozen again. Thanks so much William (Uncle Bill) Anatooskin ; )
Ah, so nice to have a taste of home. :) Wonderful recipe - I bit different than I usually make. I also serve with sour cream or applesauce. Quick note: I do have forms, but I don't use them. It's just as easy to use a wide cup to make the circles and crimp with a fork. Wonderful recipe, I will look forward to trying some other fillings.
Oh boy are these good....hard to make but really delicious. I served with a sauce of grilled onion, sour cream and melted cheese with salt & pepper. A rich, memorable meal.
