This was awesome! I really loved this and I love the fact that you aren't held to the amounts. I can add however much I want, so I did, a few more onions and a little bit more cheese. I would suggest that anyone trying this recipe be sure to get the crumbs up the side of the pan so that they don't have a problem with it sticking.

Hey! So happy to see this posted! We've made this identical recipe for years; it was one of my mother's specialties. I highly recommend it. The only difference is that Mom used more cheese. Thanks, GinnyP, for posting.

I made this pie because I had a sleeve of Ritz crackers I needed to use. I was so surprised when I found a new family recipe. My husband absolutely loved this. Will make again often.

OUT OF THIS WORLD! Wow! We loved this Vidalia onion recipe! My husband told my 20 year old daughter that it was bad so she wouldn't eat it. LOL! She told him if it was bad like he said, why was he saving it? I didn't have any crackers so I used a store bought crust I had in my freezer and instead of paprika, I used nutmeg. Yum!

Mmmmm....delicious! I've been meaning to try this recipe for a very long time and finally decided to make it as a side for dinner tonight. I was getting all my ingredients around and to my horror only had about 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter on hand. Running to the store was not an option and I had my heart set on trying this so I decided to make the crust using a T of mayo and used the butter I had on hand for cooking the onions. It worked out great! I used a little extra cheese for the top. I'm already looking forward to making this again. Thanks for sharing this keeper recipe.

I was so happy to find this - it's a dish my mom used to make and I didn't have the recipe. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the same one with ritz crackers. I did add a lot more cheese - about a cup. It's in the oven now and I can't wait to have some.

Could this be made with a frozen pie shell?

Love this simple dish! I followed the directions to the letter, but can easily see how experimentation could lead to a different dish.
