Vidalia Honey Baked Onions

Total Time

This is a recipe I look forward to making in the Spring, when the Vidalias come in season. You can also use other sweet onions in this, such as Texas Sweets, Mauis, or Walla Wallas.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Preheat oven to 325F.
  2. Cut the onions in half so the rings show.
  3. Place the onions cut side up in a buttered baking dish.
  4. Mix together the tomato juice, water, butter and honey.
  5. Pour mixture over onions.
  6. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until onions are tender.

Most Helpful

The tomato juice, honey and butter did not add as much flavor to the onions as I was expecting. I would suggest putting salt and pepper on the onions before baking. My onions were large and they required about 1 hour and 45 minutes to cook at 325 degrees.
