  1. Melt butter in saucepan.
  2. Add sugar and salt, stirring until well blended.
  3. Stir in syrup.
  4. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
  5. Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches firm ball stage (245 degrees), 12 to 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
  7. Pour into buttered 9x9x2-inch pan.
  8. Cool, and cut into Squares.

Well, move over Ktaft!! I made these caramels so quick, and it was so easy. I didn't change a thing in the recipe. These are a LOT better than any you can buy. They're softer, and have a great caramel taste. Thanks for a winner, Charlotte!

We made these caramels every Christmas for gifts and to spoil ourselves. The caramels are far better than anything you can buy. Dead easy to make. Thumbs up.
