Vegetarian Multi-Grain Dog Food

Super Wifey's Note:

My dog was pretty apathetic towards food when I bought the store brand. Now he goes crazy at meal time, he loves this stuff so much. It's high in protein and grains, but you don't have to worry about feeding your pet the gross leftover parts of chickens. The feeds my small Min Pin for about two weeks. I recommend refrigeration because it will form mold if left out for too long.

Ingredients:

Serves: 28

Yield: 28.0 cups

• 2 cups whole wheat flour
• 1 ½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour
• 1 cup textured vegetable protein (Textured Vegetable Protein)
• 1 cup cornmeal
• 1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
• 1 cup rolled oat
• ½ cup Bulgar wheat (soaked in 1 cup boiling water)
• ¼ ounce yeast
• 1 tablespoon salt
• 2 eggs
• 6 tablespoons corn oil
• 4 cups water

Directions:

1. Soak bulgur wheat in one cup boiling water and let expand while you prepare other ingredients.
2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
3. Spread flat on large cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Break into kibble when cooled.
