- 3⁄4 cup sliced onion
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1⁄4 cup long-grain rice, uncooked
- 3 cups raw diced raw potatoes
- 2 cups sliced carrots
- 1 cup diced celery
- 2 cups canned kidney beans, drained
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄8 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1⁄2 cup water
- Brown onions and ground beef in skillet, drain.
- Layer ingredients in slow cooker in the order given.
- Cover, and cook on low for 6 hours or until potatoes and rice are cooked.
Wow, this has something for everybody and makes a very hearty one dish meal. I made a small green salad for the side and dinner was served. Even DH enjoyed this! Simple to make and lots of flavor. Perfect for the winter months of snow and ice up here in the North. We enjoyed this recipe while watching "Ice Age, Continental Drift" and had a great evening. :D
