From my Bread Maker's Bible, this looks like an interesting yeast bread like I haven't seen before. The only things I did different was use 1/3 cup plain yogurt instead of sour cream (it was originally called Vanilla Sour Cream Bread) and regular AP flour instead of bread flour since the lighter texture is more becoming to the vanilla, best served as a soft bread. The next time I made it, I upped the sugar to 1/4 cup, baked in the machine using the Sweet cycle, and it came out DIVINE! It has light flaky crust but the bread has plenty of body. It is sweet without being too sweet, and chocolate chips and/or dried fruit and nuts would be wonderful additions to bake in this! I loved it plain, but it was delicious with Nutella too!

Directions

  1. Put the ingredients into the bread machine according to manufacturer's instructions. If baking in the machine, select the Sweet, White, or Light cycle.
  2. If you want to bake manually, select the dough cycle. When the dough cycle completes, place into a lightly-buttered and floured loaf pan and bake at 375F for 20-25 minutes or until golden on top.
