This is a perfect sugar cookie for holiday decorating...but make sure you don't cover up the taste of these delicious yummers. They can definitely stand on their own. The cookies aren't a flaky, more brittle sugar cookie. They hold up nicely under decorating conditions but without the bland, cardboard flavor you usually have to accept from a sturdier cookie. These will DEFINITELY be the cookies i make for my traditional Easter sugar cookie decorating.

This is now my go-to cut out cookie recipe. So easy to work with and holds the shape of any type of cookie cutter! I'm adding this to our family cookbook so that we can always find it easily. Thanks for sharing!

A great cookie! Just what I think of with a sugar cookie. I made half the recipe and mixed everything by hand, which worked our really well. I left the dough in the fridge for 2 days(didn't get to them when I thought I would), but did not notice any problems because of that. I rolled them out between two sheets of plastic wrap which helped when I had to flip the dough a few time to fix the cracking that was going on while rolling. They tasted wonderful too, everyone at work ate them up!

Great Cookie- it does take a little luck to work with this dough though. I too substituted whole what flour and added a little almond extract. My advice: work slowly! Don't overbeat the ingredients, mix on your slowest speed, roll slowly and carefully with your rolling pin, etc. While it is a litte complicated to work with the dough, the results are AMAZING!!! Wow- what a cookie!

Fabulous cookie. Soft and delicious. I didnt have cookie cutters so I used a thin round glass to cut them. They came out just fine. They are beautiful cookies! These are definitely going to be on my yearly cookie list... Ive never made such delicious sugar cookies!!! Thanks! Family loves them too!

Excellent cookies. Great flavour. The dough is very easy to work with. Makes a lot of cookies. I used my small star-shaped cutter and got 86 cookies. Definitely a keeper.

This is a really excellent sugar cookie recipe, I'm sure I'll use it again and again! It came together quickly, it rolled out nicely (I refrigerated the dough overnight, and let it sit out for about 30 minutes before rolling), was easy to use with cookie cutters, and of course, it tasted delicious. If you are looking for an easy & tasty sugar cookie recipe, use this!

These were really good, I made some for St Patty's Day with Sugar Cookie Icing and used 1/2 lemon extract to the frosting. Make sure to not over bake these or they will go hard, mine were barely golden and they went pretty hard but after I frosted them and they sat in tupperware over night they softened up a bit. Thanks!

Well, after 2 more attempts, I finally realized what everyone has been raving about... The dough was super easy to work with - I didn't need ANY additional flour while rolling the dough and the cookies came out soft and delicious. I underbaked the cookies a little - they were barely starting to brown on the bottom when I took them out of the oven. I used this icing http://www.recipezaar.com/Decorator-Cookie-IcingFrosting-That-Hardens-266529.

We were really happy with these. I used Spelt flour and natural cane sugar so they were the color of light gingerbread. I left the dough in the fridge for about 45 min. Maybe it was not long enough, or maybe it was the unrefined ingredients that I used, but they did not lift up very easily after cutting the shapes out. No problem though, we just used a spatula to get them up without sticking to the cutting board. Thanks so much. They made my 3-yr old very happy!

I made these cookies last night and brought them to my High School, which everyday this week I brought a different type of cookie (in mass amount) and everyone LOVED these! I made around 50 cookies and they were gone in the first 10 minutes of class! Thank you! I didn't use icing and they tasted phenomenal :) Thank you from Sheldon High School!

What a great recipe!! I bought some cute Halloween cookie cutters this week so I began a quest to find a great sugar cookie recipe to use them on. I struck gold with this one! After refrigerating for over an hour the dough was perfect to roll out and cut. I don't know if I have ever tasted a better sugar cookie than this one. The kids thought they tasted great too. I highly recommend this recipe!!

Excellent sugar cookie!!! Turned out soft and chewy. Left recipe as is except using whole wheat flour. I was a little worried at first as the dough seemed a little dry. Once the dough was in the fridge for a couple hours we had to work it together with our hands to get it to roll out correctly. Well, worth the work, this is a favorite sugar cookie at our house. Thanks for the great recipe.

My son and I made this for Santa, they are so delicious, we couldn't eat just one. I have always had a hard time making sugar cookies and had actually given up on the idea of making them. My son insisted so I gave in. The texture, taste and ease makes this cookies. This is THE SUGAR COOKIE recipe I will use again and again. Thank you for giving us a new family tradition.
