This is good on bread pudding etc.
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 cups boiling water
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- Mix sugar and cornstarch well.
- Pour slowly into boiling water, stirring constantly.
- Boil for 5 minutes.
- Remove from stove.
- Add butter, vanilla and salt.
- Stir and mix well.
This was good, but I thought that it lacked a richness or elements of flavor. I didn't think that it really enhanced my bread pudding as I was hoping it would, and even when I tried it plain I was not terribly impressed. Nonetheless, thank you for posting it; it tastes good, just not great.
This sauce is great, I had it with bread pudding upon DebM's recommendation. But I'd like to know how long this sauce would last if stored in the fridge, thanks :)
