I have not tried this recipe. I got it from Country Discoveries. "This sweet crunchy snack is my family's favorite", writes Carolyn Roney of Scipio Center, New York. "For variety, substitute almond extract or maple flavoring or add nuts for exta crunch".
- 3 quarts popped popcorn
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄4 cup light corn syrup
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Place popcorn in a large bowl; set aside.
- In saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup and baking soda. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil and stir until mixture is golden, about 2 minutes.
- Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla. Pour over popcorn and toss to coat. Cool slightly; break apart while warm.
This satisfied my sweet craving with the items I already had on hand. I loved everything about this, easy, tasty, and sweet. Thanks!
This is absolutely WONDERFUL. SO easy to make , no monitoring of temp like a traditional candy. The only thing I don't like about the recipe , is once I started munching , I could not STOP! Great recipe to post internetnut, I'll be making this often around the holidays!
