A basic frosting that can be colored or flavor enhanced.


  1. Allow butter to warm to room temperature.
  2. In large bowl, beat together sugar, butter, vanilla and milk until smooth. If necessary add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring. Mix everything well.

Way too sweet. Added a bit more milk, cream cheese and it mellowed the sweetness..much beetter

Wonderful recipe! Very rich but a wonderful consistency and worth the effort. I made it for my Christmas Bouche de Noel.
