  1. Allow butter to warm to room temperature.
  2. In large bowl, beat together sugar, butter, vanilla and milk until smooth. If necessary add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring. Mix everything well.

Very good. I used 4 tbsp. whole milk and 1/2 cup butter plus 4 tbsp. butter and it came out really creamy and not overly sweet or hard to spread. I also made chocolate cupcakes with it, and the combination of vanilla buttercream frosting on top of the chocolate cupcake is delicious and perfect! Thanks for posting!
