Vanilla Bean Frozen Drink - Like Starbucks

Total Time
Prep 5 mins
Cook 15 mins

Lighter and more refreshing than a vanilla milk shake, this is similar to Starbuck's non-coffee Vanilla Bean frozen drink. Time includes making and cooling the vanilla syrup. You could use commercially-prepared vanilla syrup, instead.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • for the vanilla syrup

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
  • for the drink

  • 2 cups ice, crushed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 13 cup vanilla-flavored syrup
  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream, for garnish (optional)

  1. make the syrup: combine sugar and water in a saucepan.
  2. bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
  3. off heat, stir in the vanilla paste, cool completely.
  4. to make drink: place ice in blender, chop.
  5. add milk and vanilla syrup.
  6. blend until smooth.
  7. you might need to stop and start the blender and scrape down the sides to get a smooth blend.
  8. pour into chilled 8 oz. glasses.
  9. top with whipped cream, if desired.
  10. add a straw and enjoy!
  11. remaining syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Far too sweet for me, and it's not creamy enough.

I think it is too sweet and thin, but tastes good!

Was very hot here in Oz yesterday & had some vanilla syrup so thought I'd give this a go. Was very yummy and refreshing. Thanks for posting!
