Pretty close to what I remember the Uygurs making and super good! I went with beef (for carne asada actually) and I had to substitute the star anise for 1/4 t Five Spice Powder. Also I thought 3/4 t of crushed red pepper was plenty for a good strong kick. Over all I am really excited to have this recipe- family loved it and it was as close as I have had in the US to authentic! Thanks!!
