I was expecting a mounds which to me is much more like a macaroon but that isn't what I got. Not that these are bad cookies just not what I was looking for. I found the dough to be crumbly and a little hard to roll into balls and the extra coconut didn't stick to the balls so I found that to be more trouble than it was worth.

These are great cookies! Slightly crispy on the outside , chewy on the inside. I'm sorry I made only half a batch (not enough coconut for a full batch)They mix up in no time and are very easy to make. They are addictive little buggers! Thanks for posting this U.C.!! *ETA Made again decorating with a skiff of melted semi sweet chocolate ... YUM!

I made alot of christmas cookies this year and these are my by far my favourites. I love that the recipe makes 36 large, thick, crisp, chewy, coconut cookies. Absolutely delicious with a cup of tea. They look like a big golden white snowball. UnknownChef86 these are the best. Thank you so much for sharing.

These cookies are very good, though I found I had to bake them 10 to 15 minutes longer than stated. This may just be a problem with my oven or my understanding of how the cookies should turn out. I wasn't sure if the cookies should color at all, but decided to leave them in the oven until they were light golden. This has resulted in a rather firm and chewy cookie, which my husband adores. Thank you very much for posting this recipe. I can see a future of frequent requests for it. BTW, the yield seems right - I made half a recipe and got 18. — First posted Apr 3, 2005, spelling corrected and posted again.
