Here is a tasty cornmeal dressing or spoon bread baked in the oven.

This is very similar to what my grandmother (baba) used to make for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. She also had a version with bacon, but I prefer it without. Thanks for posting this. It was easy to make and very tasty, bringing back some great childhood memories!

  1. Saute chopped onion in butter.
  2. Do not brown.
  3. Turn heat to low.
  4. Add cornmeal to butter and mix well.
  5. Add the sugar, salt and warm milk.
  6. Stir slowly until the cornmeal begins to thicken.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Add the eggs and baking powder.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Pour into a greased 3-quart casserole.
  11. Bake at 325 degrees F.
  12. for 1 hour.
