- 2 1⁄2 cups wheat flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
- 2 cups barley
- 1 cup coconut (optional)
- 2 cups chocolate chips (1/2 regular and 1/2 colored or white is nice)
- 1 cup sliced almonds
- 1 cup raisins

- 3 -4 tablespoons molasses
- 3⁄4 cup vegetable oil
- 1⁄4 cup olive oil
- 3 extra large eggs
- 1 tablespoon pomegranate juice
- 1⁄2 cup chopped dates
- 1⁄2 cup cut up fig
directions
- Mix together:. 2 1/2 cups WHEAT flour. 2 cups sugar. 1 teaspoons baking soda. 1/2 teaspoons salt. 1 tablespoons vanilla sugar. 2 cups BARLEY flakes. 1 cup coconut (optional). 2 cups chocolate chips (1/2 regular and 1/2 colored or white is nice). 1 cup sliced ALMONDS. 1 cup RAISINS.
- Add:. 3-4 tablespoons molasses. 3/4 cup vegetable oil. 1/4 cup OLIVE oil. 3 extra large eggs. 1 Tbsp POMEGRANATE juice. 1/2 cup chopped DATES. 1/2 cup cut up FIGS. Mix well and pour into greased pan or pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees F. (185 degrees C.) 25-30 minutes or until done. They should be chewy, not hard. Cut in squares. Enjoy!

<br>My cooking triumphs: Once I made a wedding cake for a vegetarian. The layers were something like carrot and walnut, with buttercream frosting, and it came out terrific. My favorite dessert is Boccone dolci.
