From Top Secret Recipes www.topsecretrecipes.com. OMG! This is SOOO good..and it's the closest thing I've found to the real thing. I think it came from copycatrecipes.com, but I've had it a while. It is worth the trouble. They never give you enough packets at the restaurant, acting like their condiments are gold or something. Phooey on that..Make your OWN! Cooking time does not include time to cool.
- 1 1⁄4 cups ketchup
- 1⁄4 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1⁄3 cup white vinegar
- 1⁄4 cup honey
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon chili powder
- Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir ingredients until well combined.
- Bring to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Bottle and store in the refrigerator. This will keep for a good while, but probably won't last.
I made this for the football game today and everyone loved it. I will definately be making this one again. This was my first attempt at making a bbq sauce and Im happy it turned out so good.
This was almost exactly the same as my favorite spicy honey bbq sauce. I added just a bit of smoked paprika...there is something else that will make it identical, can't put my finger on it. I was making Beer 'n BBQ Braised Country Style Pork Ribs for dinner (amazing btw) and only had about 1/4 of the BBQ sauce I needed. I've made the Carolina Honey BBQ Sauce before on this site but really wanted the spicy honey on these, had all the ingredients & didn't want to go to the store. This is so easy and delicious. I may not have to buy BBQ sauce EVER again! Served the braised ribs & onions with baked beans & chocolate stout brownies for dessert.
Fantastic! This is The best BBQ sauce I've ever eaten.
