Truly Amazing Creamy Hot Chocolate

"Sometimes I am given to exaggeration here, waxing rhapsodic over the wonderfulness of a recipe. Here I am actually understating how truly amazing this hot chocolate is. I found the recipe in an old Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk brochure, and when it's cold outside and there are lot of people who need warming up, this is truly the hot chocolate to make!"

 1. I actually have 1%milk I want to use up. Can I use it instead of the water?

 1. I tweaked this just a bit I used the full amount of condensed milk about an extra third of a cup of cocoa and only 4 c ups of liquid, 2 cups water and 2 and 1/3 cups lactose free milk.. was amazing!! Thanks for the idea!!

 2. I enjoyed this cocoa more than any other I have had. I used less water - only about 4.5 or 5 cups. We used whip cream on top of each cup and it was delicious!

 3. A sprinkle of cinnamon and some freshly grated nutmeg! Delish! Nect time i would make it with 5 1/2 not 61/2 cups water, tho.

 4. I liked this but it didn't meet my expectations. It really wasn't that creamy. I cut this recipe down for 2 servings and put 1 serving in the fridge to have this morning with my breakfast. I decided I would sample a bit of the cold drink before heating it up and let me tell you, it was awesome when cold! It was just okay for me when hot. I would definitely make this again but to have as a cold drink, not as hot chocolate. Thanks for sharing.

 5. This really is TRULY AMAZING!! I was a bit concerned it would be too watery but it was perfect. I didn't top it with anything and everyone still enjoyed. Thank You! Made for Comfort Cafe- Snow Queens Round.

Tweaks

 1. I made this wonderous hot cocoa tonight for the family. When I realized that I didn't have enough unsweetened cocoa, I went on the Baker's chocolate website and learned that I could substitute 3 squares of unsweetened chocolate squares for the 1/2 Cup of cocoa. (1 square = 3 Tbl. cocoa). Turned out just fine. Thanks, we all enjoyed it!

Well, I've been happily married, happily divorced, and happily married once again. (Wanna see wedding pictures? I'm married to a brilliant man with the most yummy British accent (this is the part where he rolls his eyes and says, Yeah, yeah, yeah). Let's call him Sushiman, even though he hates that name. Chia gave him that nickname when I was trying to create a dinner to show off my culinary talents. I posted here on Zaar with questions about the menu and since sushi was the main focus of the meal, he became Sushiman. That dinner was just the first of what I hope will become a lifetime of meals together.

This is a picture of us taken in September 2005 in Kew Gardens in London. Sushiman has 4 kids of his own, so together that makes us a family of ten, together with my dog and my step-dog (sadly, since I first wrote this my step-dog, Honey, crossed the Rainbow Bridge). We're the Brady Bunch on speed. Not all eight live with us, but everyone is in and out all of the time, so we're thinking about replacing our front door with one of those revolving thingies.

If you need help figuring out the whole complicated mess, you can check out <a title=Miriyummy -- A Guide to the Perplexed href=http://miriyummy.wordpress.com/about/ target=_blank>Miriyummy, A Guide to the Perplexed.

Here are my four beauties -- from left to right: Adiya, Sara, Nomi and Tehila

On March 18, 2009, my oldest, Sara, got married to Ariel.
