  1. preheat oven to 375.
  2. beat butter and shortening on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Add sugar, baking soda and salt.
  4. Beat in eggs, vanilla, flour, fruit bits, coconut and nuts.
  5. Drop by teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 9-11 minutes.
  7. Transfer to wire rack.
