This recipe came from my mother in law and is wonderful with ham, scrambled eggs, or macaroni and cheese. I make a batch every tomato season and always wish I had made more.
- Peel and seed tomatoes.
- Coarsely chop tomatoes and place in large pot.
- Add remaining ingredients and boil gently until thickened, stirring occasionally (1 1/2- 2 hours).
- Place in sterilized jars and seal then process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
Sounds great, but I'd recommend processing in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes after sealing. [Editor's note: based on this comment the recipe was updated]
