This is an apple butter infused with a rich style of Belgian beer.
- 1 large granny smith apple
- 3⁄4 cup beer (preferably Belgian Tripel)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 pinch apple pie spice (optional)
- Combine all ingredients together in a heavy saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, uncovered, until the apples become soft and mushy (about 30 minutes).
- Toss mixture into food processor and puree to desired texture.
