Traditional Rice Crispy Bars

"This is the basic recipe, just like mom used to make. I substituted 2 cups Cocoa Krispies for a little something extra. Best if served within three days. Keep covered to prevent hardening."

directions

• Grease 9x16 pan, extra large bowl, & rubber/silicone spatula.
• Dump half the cereal in the greased bowl.
• There's two ways to melt the marshmallows. For microwave cooks: combine butter and marshmallows in a large, microwavable bowl. Zap for 2 minutes. Stir and heat 30 seconds.
• For stove-top cooks: Melt butter in heavy-bottom saucepan. Add marshmallows. Stir continually until completely melted.
• Pour melted marshmallows in the bowl.
• Dump remaining cereal in the bowl.
• Using the greased spatula, stir the mixture.
• Grease hands.
• Press mixture into greased pan.
• Enjoy!

Every aspect of my exsitence is a creative endeavor. My motto is Wear what you want, & walk like you mean it. Even if it's the best recipe, I'll usually toss a pinch of something in not on the card. I don't know if it's because I'm adventuresome, or if I just want to make the recipe my own. But fortune favors the brave. My favorite cookbook is this classic Betty Crocker that my mom was given sometime between 78-83. It has been tried & true. Cooking runs in the family. My grandmother makes scalloped potates that are amazing. And my sister bakes in her free time.
