After using many recipes for deviled eggs, this is the most popular with guests and family members. (Deviled Eggs made with Miracle Whip are too tangy for some people.) The sugar added to the yolks seems to enhance the flavor. The only thing I do different is use cider vinegar and sometimes less sugar. I will try white vinegar the next time. Thanks for posting this simple and delicious recipe. It's the recipe of many of our grandmothers. PS Always boil an extra egg so that you will have enough yolk to prevent filling from being runny.

I love Deviled Eggs and they are always a huge hit at family dinners. I've never been able to duplicate my grandma's recipe but these came pretty close. I did add some finely diced onion and dill pickle. Not much, just enough to add some great flavor. I omitted the sugar but did add pepper and coarse sea salt. Oh and I use powdered mustard as my grandma did. Just don't add the same amount as the prepared mustard called for in the recipe. I added about 1.5 tsps. Please don't think I did A LOT of tweaking. I've been looking for this combination of ingredients and LOVED the results.

I am happily married to my best friend and we just bought our first house! No kids but we have 2 little dogs that we think the world of. I was born in California and although I have been on the East Coast for most of my life I am still displaced! I love the beach and hate the cold! In our free time we love to go to the beach or the mountains and hike or intertube down the lazy Shenendoah River. It is so beautiful there! I have loved to cook all of my life and will read cookbooks like they are novels!
