Traditional Deviled Eggs

"These are so good and easy. I am always requested to make these for the holidays and for barbeques. I have to make a double batch because DH sneaks them when I'm not looking! :)"

  1. After using many recipes for deviled eggs, this is the most popular with guests and family members. (Deviled Eggs made with Miracle Whip are too tangy for some people.) The sugar added to the yolks seems to enhance the flavor. The only thing I do different is use cider vinegar and sometimes less sugar. I will try white vinegar the next time. Thanks for posting this simple and delicious recipe. It's the recipe of many of our grandmothers. PS Always boil an extra egg so that you will have enough yolk to prevent filling from being runny.

  2. YUMMY! My mom told me she made hers with vinegar, but I wasn't sure how much to put in, so I searched this site until I found one that used vinegar. I followed the recipe 100%, and the eggs were SO GOOD. I was even guilty of licking the spoon after making the mixture! GREAT JOB!

  3. This is the best basic deviled egg recipe out there. I had everything on hand (and most often do) so it's nice to be able to whip them up whenever I'm craving them! They're quick and so delicious!

  4. I love Deviled Eggs and they are always a huge hit at family dinners. I've never been able to duplicate my grandma's recipe but these came pretty close. I did add some finely diced onion and dill pickle. Not much, just enough to add some great flavor. I omitted the sugar but did add pepper and coarse sea salt. Oh and I use powdered mustard as my grandma did. Just don't add the same amount as the prepared mustard called for in the recipe. I added about 1.5 tsps. Please don't think I did A LOT of tweaking. I've been looking for this combination of ingredients and LOVED the results.

  5. These are really good. I am giving 4 stars because personally, I am not a fan of that much sugar. I follow every recipe perfectly and make changes after trying the original. I will use less sugar and maybe add some dill next time. ( I am more a salt person than sugar ).

Tweaks

  1. Added onions and dill pickles. Left out sugar and added pepper. Used powdered mustard rather than prepared.
