Because it contains sugar, it burns easily and is best brushed on during the last 5 minutes or 10 minutes of cooking so that it forms a light glaze. Pass the remaining sauce at the table.

Great tasting sauce, although I did make a couple of changes ~ I used just 2 teaspoons of chili powder & 2 drops of the hot pepper sauce, & that provided more than enough heat for the 2 of us! I used a bit of it on grilled burgers & the rest made up a test dip for a couple of chicken fingers! Outstanding both ways, & definitely a keeper of a recipe! Thanks for posting it!   1. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan, add the onion and garlic and cook gently for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder and red pepper sauce.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is slightly thickened.
  4. Let cool, then refrigerate, tightly covered.
