Love this! Is just as I remember if from KFC (although I have been away from the States for 4 years)
My family loves KFC cole slaw, so was excited to try this recipe. It was a good base to start with, but I would reduce the sugar and lemon juice, and add diced green pepper. I needed to add more vinegar and salt to get it to what I thought was a close taste to KFC. Thanks for sharing - with my modifications, its a keeper!
This was easy to make and definitely the closest to KFC I have had. The sauce tasted right but my cabbage flavor came through more than I would prefer. After 3 days in frig it was just perfect!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been cooking for over 30 years and could never make coleslaw until now. I added some celery seed and used white rice vinegar. Now I can be the one to volunteer to bring the coleslaw!
Everything is right except vinegar. To take it out of the copy-cat mode and into the real thing add 3 tbl tarragon vinegar instead of white vinegar. Now you have the real KFC cole slaw as given to me by someone who made it for the company. It will make all the difference!
I worked for KFC in the 80's when we used to have to make the dressing in the store...there was no mayo, milk, lemon juice or buttermilk in the recipe
this coleslaw is great, but I worked at KFC back in the 90's when we made slaw from scratch and we used 1 gallon miracle whip, 7 pounds ofsugar, 4 cups oil, 4 cups tarragon vinegar and 5 Tblesps salt for the sauce...we made it in 50 lb batches with cabbage, onions and carrots...sorry...you'll have to break it down to family size yourself!!!
