ingredients
- 2 lbs firm ripe tomatoes
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut in small cubes
- 1 cup fresh basil, chopped or 1 teaspoon dry basil
- 1 cup fresh oregano, chopped or 1 teaspoon dry oregano
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon sugar
directions
- In lg bowl, toss all ingredients.
- Mix well.

the traditional slate caprese is one of our favorites. We usually try it at every resturaunt that has it. The simplicity is beautiful. I made this yesterday since I have so many tomatoes. It was very nice, but my daughter suggested I add a little balsamic vinegar for extra flavour, which I did. That made a nice difference. This recipe was very easy and quick to make. Thanks, MissNezz for a good recipe. -

I loved this! This is a great way to use homegrown tomatoes. The basil and oregano really bring out the flavor of the tomatoes and mozzarella. I'll be using this recipe all summer long. Thanks, MizzNezz!

Very good! But I left out the sugar, no need for it with fresh herbs and tomatoes! Especially good after it sits overnight so the herbs get a chance to really get into the cheese and tomatoes! Thanks for the recipe!

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!!
I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch.
We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
