I am NEVER buying canned tomato soup again! This was so easy, and so much better. I used dried basil, and added a little garlic and cayenne pepper. Delicious!!!

Delicious, and healthy too! I had an abundance of fresh tomatoes, so I used those. And I added a crushed garlic clove.

My friend and I used this recipe and it came out GREAT! I love how quick and easy it is! We were actually testing the recipe before making it as our first course for Christmas Eve dinner. We did have a few changes:

      1. We used 3 garlic cloves instead of 2 - we like garlic!
      2. We used a 12-oz can of tomatoes then also added 4 fresh roma tomatoes - diced.
      3. We did blend it as the recipe calls for but not too much and left it a little chunky
      4. After blending it we added a 1/2 cup of fresh spinach
      5. We then added cheese tortellini

      It was delicious!

Wow didn't expect that! I used fresh tomatoes, added a little chilli and small amount of cream at the end. i only had dried basil but it was still beautiful. I couldn't blend to much as my toddler doesn't like the noise and i think this was lucky as the texture is perfect with a few chunks in it. Wow what a great find, just looking for something to use up tomatoes.

Very good and easy! I would add more tomatoes, as I like my soup thick! Will be making again!

Hi Meow; Made this recipe for dinner and all I can say, "It is a big winner." I do not buy canned tomato soup for myself but my wife does. So now, I have her converted as she enjoyed the soup so much better than the canned "stuff". I did not change a thing, and made it exactly like you stated. Thanks loads for sharing. "Uncle Bill"

This soup has a great flavor. When is was done I added 2 Tablespoons of heavy cream and cooked until it was heated through. My teenager said to his younger teen sister, "You have to eat this, it's better than canned!"

This was SOOO good, inexpensive, and healthy! I made this for a group of 10 with adults and children (one of which claimed to hate tomatoes) and it was hit all the way around! The 10-year old told her mom to get the recipe from me! lol I added crushed red pepper flakes as others suggested, it added just a little more depth but wasn't too hot for the kiddos. Thanks for sharing!

Simple to make, fresh tasting. But would have been bland without increasing amounts of tomato, basil and garlic.

I served this at a dinner party on Wednesday, to rave reviews. I went to a dinner party on Saturday, and people were still talking about how good it was! This soup is my new go-to, not to mention winter staple.

This is a great soup recipe. I have made it twice now. Once with canned tomatoes and once with a mixture of regular tomatoes and plum tomatoes from the garden. It's very easy to make. I would suggest using fresh tomatoes if you have them because it results in a 'fresher' flavor.

Very good, I was worried it wouldn't be thick enough for me. Personally, I like my soups really hearty, so I doubled the amount of tomatoes and added a little cornstarch in at the end, it was thick and wonderful! Will make this often, thanks!
