I used brown sugar. It took about 5 minutes under the broiler to bubble. Love it!

Would never have thought to 'toast' grapefruit, but this really does make for a very interesting & satisfying lead-in to the omelet breakfast we had! Will do this much more in the future, for sure! [Tagged, made & reviewed as a recipenap in the Vegetarian/Vegan Recipe Swap 16]

A lovely start to breakfast!! I used dark brown sugar like another reviewer. This is the best grapefruit recipe I have made. I would make it again. Made for Veggie Swap 31 ~ February 2011
