This is very close to my Chicken Stew with my Grammie Bea's Dumplings, that us Northerners have been eating for as long as the Indians had feathers in their hair. This is NOT the Southern way for Chicken and Dumplings. The Southerners make these thick pasta like noodles that have a rubbery and slimy texture that I can't get past, so I was glad to see this posted. Don't mistake these for the other kind of dumplings... This is the Northern Way!

First time making chicken and dumplings and I'm so happy that I finally tried it.DDs loved it and it's a great meal to serve to kids, especially to the ones with so very few teeth.Veggies, protein, eggs, little carbs and a lot of flavor, that is something that I want to give to my kids and all in one meal. I just saw from the photo, that I forgot to add the peas.Oopsy, next time. Thanks for sharing, sharon.

An excellent way to spend the afternoon! I followed the recipe as written except for omitting the bouillon cubes, using fresh thyme, sage, and roasted garlic cloves. I also threw in a couple of potatoes, we're mad for potatoes here. This is not a difficult recipe, and if you have other tasks to complete in the kitchen, it's well worth the time involved. (Great dumplings!) Thanks again Sharon!

This recipe had great flavor, but I couldn't get a thick gravy out of it - it was more like chicken soup (which is still good) with dumplings. Very labor intensive (I started from the beginning) so I don't think I would make this very often. I loved the green onions in the dumplings - the dumplings were very good. I made exactly as directed. Made for Please Review My Recipe Tag Game 1/19/09 - NELady.
